Facebook is Now Warning Users That Its Service Works Better When It Knows Their “Precise Location”

The Infinite Brief
In a recent blog post, Facebook wrote that its features work better when they can “use precise location even when you’re not using the app to make sure that alerts and tools are accurate and personalized for you.”

At risk, Facebook says, are “features like check-ins and making planning events easier.”

Users are being warned that if they protect their privacy it might have an adverse effect on Facebook’s ability to target ads and monetize user data.

The warning comes as a reaction to the release of iOS 13 and Android 10, which both include features that warn users when their location data is being accessed in the background.
